Open Ground: WRITING IN UNUSUAL PLACES
I set up Open Ground in 2014 with my friend and colleague, creative practitioner Emma Beynon (emmabeynoncreativewriting.com). Working in gardens, wild landscapes, museums or historic buildings, our workshops introduce the habit of close observation, and nurture skills that will allow participants to write honestly about the world as they see it. All places are of interest to us, from car parks to castles.
Whatever the setting, writing with Open Ground is an opportunity to explore, sense and understand an environment. By encouraging this intimate level of engagement with the surroundings, an Open Ground workshop can mark the beginning of a lifelong relationship with a place.
We can tailor workshops to any age and ability. We work with schools, community groups and individuals, and we also offer intergenerational projects and writing for health and wellbeing.
