The Book of Citrus

Until now citrus lovers could only see Volkamer’s two-volume Nürnbergische Hesperides by befriending an antiquarian book dealer or gaining access to the rare books department of a national library. But now Taschen have brought Volkamer back into the limelight with The Book of Citrus, a lavish reproduction of the original plates in Volumes l and ll, and recently rediscovered illustrations for the unrealised third volume. I had a lovely time writing about this 18th- century love letter to citrus fruits of every size, shape and colour in April's issue of World of Interiors magazine.
